We’re Back!

So after a long and much needed update iSnowskate is back on the snowskating map. We’ve got plenty of new stuff like a full video library ready to view right on the site, a directory of all the snowskating sites out there, and more. While we were out Ambition and Icon has been busy hyping the coming season with winter countdown’s and shot of the week photos and videos. The biggest story though is the return of Premier Snowskates now under new management by Andy Wolf. Looks like they have a new website with some preliminary board layouts ready. We hope to see some great snowskates from premier this coming season. Well for now just stay hyped and thanks for stopping by!

So I’m about a week behind, but the Icon Classic took place last Friday and was a great success once again. Josh Oakes took the win with Matt Plays placing second and Phil Smage placing third. So this week has a couple quick updates from the snowskating world before we see the Icon Classic this Friday, March 19 and then Strapless Weekend the following weekend on the 27th and 28th. Icon/Ambi Updates

The pros and AM’s of our two amazing single deck snowskate companies have been a pretty busy bunch over the past few weeks, and the next few are no different. First off let’s take a look at some past footy from the last weeks. This first video is of the Snowskate Sherbrooke team composed of some familiar faces from the Ambition Team, lots of fun and gives a good feel of what really goes on when out snowskating (as opposed to just showing all the bangers):

The Icon crew has also been busy adding a new member to their team: Neil Berg. This kid rips and has been featured here (see this video) and in Steezy Films “One More Try”. Congratulations Neil!

Event wise the Icon Classic an invitation only (although open for public viewing) single deck snowskate comp. is going down March 19th at Wachusett Mountain, MA. For more details check out the Facebook Event or Icon’s Event Page.

So this past few weeks have been pretty eventful in the snowskating world. The pros at ambition and icon have been busy hitting up some of the major snowskating comps and now have the pictures to show for it. From the Midwest Open we thank Sarah Behren for posting up a ton of awesome photos, and from the Optimist Demo we thank snowskater Guillaume Blais. Here’s a few highlights:

Personally we just got hit with an awesome snow storm the other day and I had the best sesh’s of my 2010 season, sick line of 8 stair ledge grind straight into 5 stair ollie. Hope you guys are having as much fun out there! Keep snowskating!

XGames 2010 Wrap

So the X Games 14 Snowskate Comps. were this past weekend and Warheads and Fuse put together a nice park and held both a single deck and 4×4 separate competitions as well as some other free jams/fun stuff. Pictured above is rider Noel Nelson who picked up 2nd place in the 4×4 competition. From a couple of other sources I also gathered that single deck pros Phil Smage and Alan Gerlach (possibly among others) attended the single deck comp with Alan coming out with the win. Sounds like the event went quite smoothly and I hope that this competition will grow over the years and maybe even make it to the TV, it would be truly awesome to see the competitions go down live!

Coming up this weekend is the premier bi-deck competition of the year. The 3rd Annual Ralston Cup! Ralston Snowskates will be putting on their awesome comp up at Sierra-at-Tahoe Mountain once again. So I hope you guys got a chance to hit up the X Games or will maybe get a chance to do some bi-decking this weekend! Keep snowskating and having fun out there guys!

Stefani Scrilla Wrap

So I attended the first ever Stefani Scrilla Stacktown Showdown and it was awesome to say the least. Mix beautiful weather, a killer setup, good snow conditions, and amazing riders together and you get one sick event. The great people over at Whaleback Mountain in NH were super supportive and provided a slick ass “butter box”, grooming, and a nice little rail. The setup was three summer snowboarding ride in ramps. Ramp one had said butter box, ramp two was just a big ass kicker, and ramp three had the classic Stefani box. We rode up early and Nick Stefani, Josh Seguin, Rob Provost, and myself began setting up the features. These guys all totally blew me out of the water and threw down some serious tricks. When it finally rolled around to the actual event time Alex Crowcroft, Rico Desjardins, and Benoit Quimper showed up and of course also totally killed the spot. Check the footy right here:

So I know a ton of you guys got out on go snowskating day and made it a big success. We got a ton of new awesome videos which will be shared over in the video feed, but of course, the pros were all out and about as well. We wanted to feature those from Icon and Ambition who provided some awesome video from the event day. The ambition crew went up into the mountains of VT and shot some awesome powdery footy while the Icon crew skated at the Icon HQ Park:

Go Snowskating Day!

Hey guys as you know tomorrow is the official Go Snowskating Day 2010! That means flock out to the white stuff with your boards and let the sessions begin!

Also Icon Snowskates has just released a new video contest for this glorious day! It’s a bit of a tough one as a list of pretty advanced tasks lies before you. Free goodies from Icon are the prize though, so if you can get this list accomplished (or at least mostly) you may be in for a treat. So grab that cam while your out tomorrow, find some new spots, and hit ‘em up. For full details on the contest click here.

Don’t forget some events going down on the day:

Icon Snowskates is hosting a session in Massachusetts and team riders Matt & Jared Plays will be present. Icon demo snowskates will be available to skate as well.

Also head over to Crotched Mountain in south NH for a snowskate gathering with an (unofficial) photographer on hand if you want to grab some photos on the day.

If you can’t make those, make your own event with friends, or go out and kill some spots solo. All in all just get your board and get out there, promote this amazing sport we all love so much.

Hey guys, so the snowskating world is growing and amazing me every minute. As you may already know we have gained another source of awesome snowskate pro coverage from pro media man Nick Ahrens. Let’s just say he’s got some serious connections with the Ambition Snowskate Team and works on this little site called Game Informer as well. The new site is called Image|Method and features exclusive photo, video, and other related media around the world of snowskating. I really love the site content and photos Nick has already posted and I’m sure it can only get better!

My First Season Edit

So yesterday as some of you knew (if you follow our twitter), I went out and snowskated my driveway. I made a makeshift box (the top not nailed on) and did some slides and shove-outs. This was my first time actually riding at home this season and the snow was pretty nice. We only got about 2 inches up here but it’s been nice and cold so the snow is super fast. I made a short video edit towards the end of the session. Waiting so long to film with my old digital camera wasn’t such a good idea as lighting wasn’t so awesome in the driveway later in the day. The footage isn’t anything amazing but I had tons of fun with this little box and plan to cut it up and actually nail it to the 2×4′s for next sesh. Basically it’s all the gear you ever wanted stright from Icon at a discounted price package! The kit includes one Icon Snowskate, one Tilt hoodie, one Burst tee, “Let The Day Unfold” DVD, Swix F4 Paste Wax, Icon stickers, stencil, and a poster. All Survival Kit snowskates come stock with TrueConcave and Xtremegrip.

Event: Tandådalen Testing

The first official snowskating event for the 09/10 season has just been released. This event is happening at Tandådalen ski resort in Sälen, Sweeden and is a product testing & snowskate seshing weekend. A group known as Junkyard is hosting 2 snowskate sessions here on Friday the 27th at 1pm and Saturday the 28th at 3pm

In my world recently I got to get my first pre-sesh of the season in after the Champlain College annual Rail Jam (which was sick) was cleaned up a bunch of snow was leftover which I skated for the following 2 days on my ’08 smage. The snow was pretty crappy and I really realized I need a new board this season but it was still wicked fun to play with two runs, one kicker and a nice gap.

Ambition 2010 Products

Today Ambition Snowskates released their 2010 product line with real photos of the new snowskates they have to offer this season. We’ve already had a glimpse at the new Team Boards but now we also get to see the new Smage and Gerlach Pro models. Let me be the first to say that these snowskates look amazing and I can’t wait to get my hands on one.

There was a bit of a change in the pro boards with the drop of the new concave features. Ambition had this to say about the changes: “You will also notice that the pro boards no longer feature our built-in concave stock. The board prices have been adjusted accordingly. With the feedback of our team riders, we came to the conclusion that it was not worth for our customers to spend on. Considering none of our team riders wanted a board with concave, we figured our customers should also be getting the board we believe to be the best even though all the kits had already been manufactured.”

For the full press release see here: Ambition 2010 Product Release Statement. On a personal level the loss of concave doesn’t really change my mind in picking up a new ambition anyway.

Ralston Snowskates: Updates

With a brand new website and a new promo video, Ralston Snowskates is taking bi-deck snowskating to new levels again this season. Although new threads are up on the new Ralston Website, boards are still to come. Florida Powderskate: Release

Just yesterday Florida Powderskate released their 09/10 season products including new under-ski’s, new bi-deck completes, and a new leash. There are four lengths of under skis including: 125, 151, 152, and 158 cm. All those lengths can also be bought as a complete bi-deck snowskate this year with included rocker trucks and a specially made powder top deck. Also introduced this season is the Ungi Bungi; an easy to use bi-deck leash, with easy release velcro, and corrosion resistant swivels that keep the leash tangle free. Hope everyone’s having a chill sunday, I just did some serious longboarding up in the mountains and saw my first snow this season up close.

Anyway today 0910 Snowskates just revealed their 09/10 season “ECO Team” snowskate which you can pick up right over on their site. If you want to see a little more about it including some actual riding shots, 0910 has also released a short video showing off the new board in detail (see next post). Ambition: True Color Wrap-Up

So fortunately for me, I got the chance to go to the True Color Premiere at Champlain College (since I’m enrolled there) which was amazing. There I not only saw the greatest snowskate movie to date but also grabbed a few freebie posters and dvd’s. I also met up with Alex Blais, Quimp, Alan Gerlach, and the man behind the movie Nick Stefani. I saw a ton of other riders there but sadly never got the chance to say hi (sorry if I missed you, one of my roommates last year was having a birthday bash that night as well, so I had to bail before the after party).

Anyway, I found this sticker on a cone near the college today (which might or might not end up at my dorm). The movie is amazing and I hope many of you got a chance to see it online on Saturday.

Icon just released their new line of snowskates for the 2010 season. The new boards have 8 different graphic styles each with two length’s of 32″ and 34″ inches. They feature new TrueConcave system and an all new base. The boards start at $125 bucks (if you exclude TrueConcave and Xtremegrip) and top out at $165 with TrueConcave and Xtremegrip installed.

Ambition: True Color Live Premiere

In an official statement from Ambition Snowskates today, the True Color Premiere will be at Champlain College in Burlington Vermont on October 2nd, 2009. The premiere will take place in the Alumni Auditorium at 9:00 PM EST.

I am so stoked that the premiere event will be at my College (I go to Champlain, I am there typing this right now). Rider, Editor, and Filmer for True Color: Nick Stefani also goes here (which is why its premiering at the College).

So head on up to Champlain College on October 2nd and meet me there! (I’ll be sporting an iSnow Tee so it shouldn’t be hard to find me).

Ambition: Site and Store Updates

I was so excited this morning when I realized not only did Ambition release the first full teaser for True Color, they also changed a bunch of stuff on their site. First things first though, you gotta check out Ambition’s first full teaser for their upcoming full-length video: True Color. Check it:

Icon Snowskates announced today that they will be partnering up with Ambition Snowskates and Premier Snowskates to create an even better GSSD for all you guys.

Ambition Presents: True Color

If you haven’t heard already Ambition Snowskates is planning on releasing a full length snowskating DVD movie with over an hour of snowskating footage!

The movie will feature a ton of your favorite snowskate pros and the long awaited Jux Snowskate Documentary. The movie is set to release in October of 2009. For more info see Ambition’s dedicated True Color Site and follow the news and trailers coming from the movie, speaking of trailers…

Fuse Snowskates: Season Wrap

If you’re subscribed to Fuse Snowskates’ mailing list, yesterday you received (as i did) their season wrap-up newsletter. They posted a ton of videos and photos from this past years season events which can be found at:

Most importantly they released some details on the new Fuse 1X project! It looks like Fuse is in the R&D stage of creating a new bi-deck line with a single deck, one ski design! These boards should be pretty cool and are set to be released for this season!
